What is the purpose of the Love.Loud. capital initiative?

Find out here.

Why haven’t we started the addition yet?

We can't start the building addition until our offerings catch up to our pledges toward the initiative. Although the bank is willing to give us a short-term construction loan to begin construction, we must be able to show the bank that our offerings match our pledged amounts on a monthly basis. To date (as of April 2010), our offerings lag behind pledges by a little over $400,000. As soon as the offerings-to-date equal our pledges-to-date, we’ll begin the building process. Please note that the construction loan would not exceed our pledges and would be paid in full at the end of the pledge period. We continue to stand behind our promise to not incur additional long-term debt for this building project (no additional long term debt).

What is the addition going to be utilized for?

This space will be primarily used for the children’s ministry - in particular, kindergarten through fifth grade. During the week it'll be available for classes and on Sunday evenings for our youth ministry.

What is the addition going to look like?

We'll build as much space as we can with the dollars available. Generally it will be a big rectangle divided into classrooms and storage space.

Is there really a need for this addition?

Approximately 31% of our weekend attendance is comprised of children and youth. We have exceeded all projections for growth, and in order to creatively solve our space issues we have added additional services. However, we are still constrained by the amount of space we have to accommodate our children--in particular, at this point in time, our fourth- and fifth-graders. As we continue to grow, we must find a way to provide adequate space for our children to be nourished spiritually. We never want to tell a child, "There is no room for you here."

When we have the funds we need, how soon would we start building?

Immediately! However, that does not mean that a shovel would go into the ground the next day. We have a lot of up-front work to be completed like architectural drawings, permits, contracts, and a construction loan before we can actually use that shovel.

Once we start building, how long will it take?

The construction process will take approximately 9 months.

What happens if we don't receive enough funds to break ground?

Any funds donated to Love.Loud. over-and-above our monthly mortgage will be designated toward building the new space. If we don’t reach our goal and aren’t able to build, we’ll be looking for the difference in our next campaign.
In other words, if we don’t collect the $2.1 million—but rather $1.8 million—that’s $500,000-$600,000 over and above our monthly mortgage obligation (which totals between $1.2 and $1.3 million over the three years) that we’d have already set aside in seed money toward the building. That would put us that much closer to beginning construction on Phase 2 with our next campaign. (As we've mentioned, we're currently behind on our giving to Love.Loud. If giving continues at the current pace, our total funds received would be approximately $1.4 - $1.5 million, not the $1.8 million previously forecast.)

Will my pledge or offering really make a difference?

Absolutely! First and foremost it will move us one step closer to building. More importantly it represents your commitment to the work God is doing at MSC. Most of all, your gift will change a child’s life eternally.

What if something happens and I need to make a change to my pledge?

All you need to do is contact our  Executive Director, Patty Beseda, and she will make any changes requested.

Can I just give a one-time gift instead of a monthly gift?

Yes, in fact a one-time gift will get us that much closer to our goal quicker than spreading out that gift over the remaining 12 months of the initiative.

Can I give online?

Yes. Just go to the Online Giving page of our site. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the link that says "Donate to the Love.Loud. Building Fund."

Can I give other types of gifts?

If you have non-cash items to donate, we have partnered with idonate for gifts of stocks, bonds, jewelry, cars, boats, collectibles, and so on.

Is giving to Love.Loud. different than giving my tithes and offerings?

Yes, there is a difference. Your tithes and offerings are your first fruits (the first 10% of your income), and those offerings are used to fund our general ministry budget here at the church. Everything you see here on the weekends, during the week, and behind the scenes is funded with those tithes. A gift to Love.Loud. is really and over-and-beyond gift. For instance, if your tithe is $500 per month and you are led to give to Love.Loud., that gift would be over and above your $500 monthly tithe.

What are my tithes and offerings used for?

Your tithes and offerings are used for the ministry that happens on this campus: weekly worship, classes, seminars, children’s ministry, youth ministry, women’s and men’s ministries, MOPS, life bands, and all the support it takes to make those ministries happen. Additionally, your tithes and offerings are used for the care and maintenance of our facilities. Also, MSC tithes on the offerings we receive to the general ministry budget; those dollars fund our outreach ministries.

I already give to the general budget. Can I just split my offering?

It’s important that our church family continues to give faithfully to our operating and ministry budget—in fact, that’s the priority. Commitments to Love.Loud. are “above and beyond” regular giving, so if you feel like you have to choose, then please continue (or increase) your regular giving. Our goal is not to pressure you or guilt you into contributing to Love.Loud. We can only encourage you to seek God’s direction for how He wants you to participate.
