Mark is a gifted musician who has a special place in his heart for those who've given up on traditional church. As the leader of our Praise Band, Mark is deeply dedicated to presenting the gospel each week through music that rivals in sound quality what people hear on the radio. He also has written several of the praise songs we sing on the weekends! Mark has been involved in music and media at MSC since its launch in September 1999 and recently launched his ministry on a national platform with his debut Major label release on Myrrh Records. Mark and his wife, Carolyn, also an integral part of Mark’s ministry inside and outside of Morning Star as a vocalist, are the proud parents of a young musician-in-the-making named Conner, born in September of 2003. Apart from spending time with his family, Mark enjoys listening to music and watching his St. Louis Blues.

Describe one of your proudest moments. My grandfather typified the word musician to me and my brothers. Before he passed away, I had the opportunity to accompany my own high school choir on the piano as they sang the graduation song that I wrote for my senior year. Grandpa said he’d never been more proud in his life.

What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? Vanilla . . . Wow, that’s so vanilla. I like it in a rootbeer float, though . . . does that make it cooler?

What career would you never-ever-in-a-million-years consider? Truck driver. I can’t stand driving in bad weather, and can’t imagine doing it in an 18-wheeler.

What talent do you wish you had . . .but you just don’t . . . like, not even close. Skateboarding . . . like, the really crazy killer half-pipe trick stuff.

What CD do you own that no one would suspect? Three different versions of Les Miserables.
